This never happened to me before.

Well, what a day I had yesterday. I took Bobby to the Dollar Store, and as I stood in line, waiting to pay my bill, there was a black man ahead of me. He stepped away, and I put my things on the counter to be checked out. He stood there for about 5 seconds and said to me "I want to pay for your things." Of course, I said "no, no,no." He insisted and laid a twenty dollar bill to the cashier. I didn't know what to think. He had an accent that was definitely Jaimaican, or Haitian. He was so persistent. So, I took it. I had about $5.00 worth of things and I said to Bobby, "put your things there too." He had a 4 roll pack of TP. I naturally thanked the man and he said "that is my blessing to you today." He was not very old--maybe thirty. Needless to say we were flabbergasted. We were still talking about it today.
And then today was not a very happy one.
Steve and I went to a funeral today. I'm sure most of you have heard me speak of Marge and Curly. She passed away Friday morning. She was a long time friend. She was the first person I met, when Daddy and I came to Columbus, after the war. So it was 62 years ago.
I met Curly's sister there today. I hadn't seen her for 50 years. She lives in Westerville and we are going to meet for lunch soon.
And, oh yes---Jim was there and I tried to avoid him. He was talking to Jane Beall and Janet and reached over, tapped me on the shoulder and said, "do you remember me." And I said, "oh, how well I remember you." Ha. He did not pursue it further. I asked them if they were able to get any of the things that belonged to their mother. Jane said they did.
I have rambled on long enough and it is 2:00--so better get to bed.
Love.
Mother/Grandma.
